  • Where is your ranch?

    Our original ranch is in Teton Valley, Idaho. Rehabilitating the land through grassland management and cattle grazing is where we discovered our passion for grass-fed and grass-finished beef.

  • What is Certified Humane?

    Certified Humane® is a program of Humane Farm Animal Care (“HFAC”), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve animal welfare. It’s widely known as the “gold standard” of farm animal care certification.

    Our 100% grass-fed beef ranches all meet all HFAC’s rigorous standards and regularly pass their thorough inspection processes. In fact, we try to do even better than their standards!

  • Does all your beef come from Teton Waters Ranch?

    No, it does not. As we’ve grown we’ve realized our potential impact is larger than just one lone ranch in Idaho. Our Founder Jeff has searched the world to partner with ranchers that are aligned with our standards and that have the same passion for holistic ranching to source beef from. It starts with you as a consumer demanding more from your food producers. As you support us, we support these great ranchers, which enables more delicious grass-fed beef to be available for everyone.

  • Where do you make your sausages?

    We searched high and low to find the right co-manufacturing partners to make our products, and found domestic facilities that can give us the quality we’re looking for.

  • Do your products have a casing?

    Our Jalapeño Cheddar Rope Sausage and our Kielbasa Rope sausage have a clear edible collagen casing.  Our collagen casings are manufactured and made from beef and taste very similarly to a natural casing sausage.  All other sausages are skinless (no casing). All sausages are pork-free.

  • Is your beef Certified Grass-Fed?

    There is a lot of work to be done in the certification process of grass-fed—unlike Organic, there is currently not a standard that everyone uses and is recognized by the USDA. TWR supports having a standard, but we don’t believe that any of the current certifications fully meet our standards. An example of this: some certifications allow cattle to be confined and to eat grass pellets. We have a strict no-confinement standard, so we do not want to carry the same labels as a company that allows this. Our beef is 100% grass-fed and 100% pasture-raised.

  • Do your suppliers use pesticides, herbicides or insecticides?

    Potentially. But this isn’t an easy ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ As a general rule weeds and insects aren’t a big deal in pastures for cattle ranchers (as opposed to crop farmers who are far more aggressive in order to protect crops). In the US, the FSA (Farm Service Agency) encourages, and sometimes requires spot spraying for noxious weeds (thistle, knapweed and leafy spurge). So there may be some spot spraying, but these are plants cattle typically won’t eat anyway.

  • Is your product gluten free/preservative free?

    Absolutely! All of our products are clean and free of gluten, fillers, nitrates, antibiotics.

  • Do your products contain nightshades?

    Yes, some of them. Any of our products that have tomatoes, red pepper, paprika, (or any type of “hot” pepper, with the exception of black or white pepper) do contain nightshades.

  • How long will your products keep in the refrigerator after opening?

    5-7 days in the fridge.

  • Are your beef products 100% Grass-Fed and Grass-Finished? With no grains ever consumed?

    Yes, all of our beef is 100% grass-fed AND grass-finished, with no grains ever consumed. Most conventional beef starts on grass, but then is moved to a feedlot and fed grain to be fattened up during the last portion of their lives. Our beef spends their entire lives on pasture so we clarify with “grass-fed and grass-finished” to provide the distinction that our cattle are never in a feedlot nor fed grain.

  • Why is grass-fed beef more expensive?

    Feedlot-raised beef gains weight fast—because speed equals volume, and volume equals money for the producers. But this quick weight gain isn’t ideal—not for the animal and not for the customer who eventually consumes this beef. Beef raised the way it should be, on open pastures with a natural diet of grass, is not ready for slaughter until almost double the time of feedlot beef. We believe that what is sacrificed to produce this “faster” and cheaper beef is not worth it. We hope you agree too.   • Is your beef treated with antibiotics or hormones?

    Nope! Our beef is antibiotic and hormone free. Since our cattle are allowed to graze and grow as nature intended, they have many fewer health problems than cattle on feedlots.

  • Are your products Paleo-friendly?

    All are, with the exception of the products that contain cheese: Jalapeño Cheddar Bratwurst, Cheddar Bratwurst, Italian-Style Crushed Red Pepper & Basil, and Italian-Style Oregano and Mozzarella, all of which contains cheese.

  • Are your products Whole30 compliant/approved?

  • Are there any spices or ingredients not listed on the package?

    Yes, there may be some spices not listed that are less than 2% of the formulation.  If you do have a question regarding a specific spice being present in any product please email us at info@tetonwatersranch.com and we can answer any questions you may have.
